The nose cap is wrong for the Special style of a Model 65. It should have the sling swivel base molded into the cap. I can't see the rear swivel base well enough to determine whether the base itself is the correct "Super Grade" factory base or not. If it is, the entire buttstock is likely a replacement amd the forearm wood, too but the latter must not have come with a nose cap.

My guess is this is a Standard style gunsmithed into a pseudo-Special.

The black backdrop precludes close examination. If it were real, it should hammer for well over 3K.

The Super Grade nosecap, rear inletted base, swivels and strap package was a factory special order feature for the Standard M64. I owned one. Probably for the M65, too. But Fagin went at this Wonder bass-ackwards.

I disagree.

Unless you have exceptionally acute (x-ray) vision, the quality (resolution) of the photos (9, 13, & 22) is not sufficient enough to determine if the front sight post was installed after the fact. Based on its position on the barrel, it appears correct.

The barrel address roll marking in is the correct location for a 16-inch barrel. On the 14" and 15" barrels, it was moved forward of the barrel band.

The pictures are crap. From what I see, it has been totally reblued. And some one has pinched the bolt mounted peep sight.

One to stay away from!

I'm not any kind of expert, but I don't believe the stock set is original. Like the model 64 deluxe the sling swivels should be recessed in rear and front swivel built into forend cap. I can't evaluate the metal finishes with the black background photos

Can't help you with your dilemma but make sure you have a Trust and your wishes are noted in the Trust. Each beneficiary could have a copy of the Trust. The executor of the Trust will have the original document. This way there may be less fighting.

The last email I got stated that they may have some in stock in a few months. That was a couple months ago. I sent another email to them yesterday.

You wouldn't know until your see the inner mag tube to find out what is missing or broke. I doubt that its the feed spring since they rarely go bad. Usually its the spring on the end that holds the shells in the tube until its installed in the gun or they let the follower go with no shells in the tube and when the follower hits the end enough times the end breaks off and parts are sent across the floor. Here are some pictures of what it is. There are two variations that were used.
