Thanks for your input Tony. It’s always good to see a few legitimate collectibles come into the general public even if they have a few “warts”. That being said the demand for them seems to be increasing at a moderate pace. Good unmolested originals are getting difficult for me to find. I would have bid a little over 2500 but 4100 was a little too optimistic for me. I do have a good set of period correct walnut SRC stocks that would have spruced it right up. I’d like to have gotten it but there will hopefully be another one come by someday. PH

I'm in agreement with you as far as being a decent representative and that the refinished was made very clear in the listing, as LSB, is very well respected and do a great job with they're write ups and pictures! IMO!

I also agree with the $2,500.00, as far as being an estimated approximate value for this one.

It’s interesting to watch these auctions. I was in the bidding for this one and watched til the end.

There were 4 serious bidders.

The refinish issue was known it wasn’t hidden or disguised.

If you wanted a legit trapper this was an opportunity—although there were some shortcomings.

You don’t see these available often

It was probably a $2500 value but::::

a fairly high demand

and an obviously short supply……..not a surprising outcome to me.

I’ll have to keep looking. PH

Hello everyone,

Stumbled upon a listing for Winchester 94 in 44mag that has a chrome receiver and chromed barrel bands.

Barrel is regular blued.

Has M serial (which fits the 1968-172 first production 44s): 3330996M

Doesn't have the correct metal butt plate but I'm guessing someone changed it out for a gel insert as the 44 hits a bit in this light rifle.

Does anyone have any idea what this is ? Would/could this be factory ?

Thanks

Thanks guys, That one walked into the Sioux Falls gun show in 2007. I must of belonged to the guys grandfather or relative because he didn't know what he had. He asked me if this was a 1 of 1000 so I had to explain what it was.
I see there are several extra long 73's in the August RIA auction. A deluxe 36, a 34, a 32 and a 30. I still haven't got through all of them. Time for you guys to fill all those missing barrel lengths in your collection.

I have to admit I have more than a few of those....

I had not looked at this upcoming auction. I'm off to take a look.

You're correct Steve, and it has the small stud that is screwed in to hold the 62-B tang sight in place when down. How about the "Set Trigger"?
