My bet is that it goes for something north of the high end of the RIA estimate.

Good score. I love 45-90. my only problem is the one picture that shows the lever, it appears to be blued. A rifle of that vintage should be CC I believe.
  

Here’s a picture of the lever with the flash…

Look carefully at the chamber profile and note:

1. The presence of a milled recess at the rear of the chamber proper, for the vestigial rim of the semi-rimmed .351 case. The contact between this recess and the case rim is the only contact that provides positive headspace. 

2. The complete absence of any bullet seat a/k/a "hard stop" against which the case might headspace on its mouth. 

The only way a converted. 223 case can headspace is by being held by the gun's extractor. While this will work some of the time, it only has to not work once, in which case the firing pin may not reach the firing pin -- if you are lucky. 

If the case is not held in proper headspace by the extractor but seats further forward into the leade, creating excessive headspace, but not beyond the reach of the firing pin, the case may rupture and jet gas, powder particles and miniscule zots of brass out the bottom of the action and through the shooter's trigger finger, while some it squirts through the takedown port into his eyes. 

The odds are the extractor will keep the case where it should be or, if it doesn't, the gun won't fire. People apparently convert 223 cases for this use and not all have been blinded.  

But it is not safe to do.

I believe Winchester loaded ammunition for just about any firearm, if there was a market.  I’m butchering a quote from Henry Brewer here, but while Winchester was known around the world for their guns, they made the real money in ammunition sales. 

Winchester sold a lot of military ammunition during the Mexican Revolutionary and WWI years.  The big hardware stores on the Mexican-American border bought a lot of 7 m/m ammo, too, along with 30-06, 44 WCF, 30 WCF, etc.   Western cartridge also had big ammo contracts at that time, and I remember looking at records in the McCracken Library, while working on the Model 1895 book, that indicated that Winchester acted as a subcontractor for some of that.  Not long before, Winchester, UMC and US Cartridge (if I remember correctly) had formed the Ammunition Manufacturers Association to make life difficult for companies like Western.

I don't know about those specific boxes.  There might be an example in the Giles and Shuey cartridge box book.

Winchester added the 7mm to Model 54 in the 1930 catalog, which means that rifles for it were undoubtedly assembled in the latter half of the year 1929.  Winchester first chambered the 7mm Mauser (7x57) cartridge in the Single Shot rifle (October 1905).

Were these some sort of contract ammunition.  To my knowledge Winchester started with the 7mm with the model 54 in the 30s?  These are much earlier…..
