Yes, being responsible for your own actions is one of my daily mantras. I certainly do not condone in any way the blatant misrepresentation of items for sale. But if anybody thinks that all the sellers in the world are "the greatest guys in the world who would NEVER try to embellish something" then they are woefully ignorant of reality. If somebody shells out thousands of dollars for something they are not intimately familiar with then they must have more "disposable income" than I do.

And now the seller has removed all but one (useless) picture of the gun. At this point, it is very easy to conclude that he is intentionally trying to hide the fact that the gun is not as advertised. Another dealer added to my black list.

From The Woods– I’ve also tried to get Gunbroker involved in a fraud sale via their so-called Buyer Protection Program. After leading me around in a circle for months GB told me tough luck. I learned 2 things about Gunbroker:
1) Their so-called "buyer protection program" is just window dressing and is worthless.
2) It is Buyer Beware on GB, you’re on your own when you shop there.
I no longer waste my time on Gunbroker, their utter lack of service and guns like these are two of the reasons why.
I do appreciate the forum threads and honest assessments of our favorite repeating firearms here though.
It stinks when someone gives anything a bad name. I for one love GB as a seller and hope that people realize there are still people on the sight that take pride in what they have. Hopefully no gets burned on this one though. 😕
Now up to over $4,550 and the reserve is still not met. Can’t believe people are willing to throw their money away on something like this. Seller’s also an idiot for setting the reserve price so high…although I hope the reserve isn’t met so nobody gets burned.

mikec–My experience with GB’s fraud department was a sour one. I was not trying to berate them, just saying I no longer trust that they will be helpful in misrepresentation cases.
I’m thankful they are in business. Their site is a good one to buy and sell from if a person is careful. I’ve sold rifles and old ammunition that pleased the buyers. And I have bought several rifles–some of them nice ’94’s that I wouldn’t have found for sale in my locale. Each person I’ve been involved with in these sales has shown themselves to be an honest person, and some have shown a depth of integrity–all that is, except that one who stinks up many aspects of his world.
So, GB has served my family well as a site for firearms related sales and purchases. I won’t trust that they will stand up for what is right in disputes.
Well, I was sitting down and enjoying a cold one(or two) last night and decided to drop this fella one last line. Wasn’t trying to assume anything about the good folks here but the cold ones got the best of me. Here’s what I said:
"So after repeated emails from serious collectors you still choose to list this gun as original? First of all, you’ve lost the chance for any actual Winchester collector involved in the Winchester Arms Collector Association to ever bid on anything else you own. I don’t know if you understand but the pockets of that community are very,very deep! The other thing you did, and the main thing, is that you completely threw away you integrity for a dollar! We’ve all been wrong but its the test of a TRUE man who admits it and moves on. Hope all works out well for the buyer, not you and that he was looking for a totally refinished gun when he bid."
Here was the reply:

After being relisted, the same guy has run the bids up to $4,999.99 and still the reserve has not been met. 🙄

I would bet if you bump that $4999.99 another penny, you’ll meet the reserve and own it.
