I only get (289) 222 Rem Mag loads per pound, but I should be set for a few years now.
Bert

That's what I like about the 22 Hornet, pretty stingy on the powder. 500 per pound, +/-. These days it's certainly food for thought.

Mike,

Yes, and that is why I have strongly advocated that you join the HOA (Hornet Owners Association)! I actually get (560) rounds per pound for the 22 Hornet... 12.5 grains of Hodgdon Lil Gun per ctg. That said, neither of my K-Hornets are quite as stingy, and (500) rounds per pound is about all that I can get out of 1-lb.

I try to buy Lil Gun, Bullseye, and I4198 in as large of a quantity per container as possible.

Yes indeed, Thanks!

I just ordered the 8-lb jug of IMR 4198... now to see how long it takes to get delivered. My only hope is that it will be enough (added to the 2.2 lbs I still have) to get me through the remainder of my reloading projects. In total, it will bring my inventory up to 12.2 lbs of 4198.

Got 3lbs of H4198 from Scheels in Colorado Springs on the way to CGCA show last week. Also 1000 LR Primers. I got load data on 1886 cartridges from Hogdon, and good info from Mike Venturino. I load lead and light loads for safety as most of my 1886's are not NS. Bill

I am definitely not the end all on powders, but have checked all the usual places for IMR 4198 or H-4198 with no success. Looking to help out a friend to whom I reluctantly sold some several years back. Lowered my supply and held him for a few years. Currently I only see a few IMR powders even available. I won't comment on affordability tho! Those are seemingly only available in 1 lb cans, with no 8 pounders available for a couple of years. Seems I also can not back order which is a disturbing sign. My small stash of H-4198 is my strategic reserve. I've used it before with no known problems. It has now been a few years since new stocks of 4198 has been out, so maybe soon we will have new powder hitting the wholesalers? Tim
