The Winchester 67 and 68 were basically the same gun with different sights.  The standard sights on a 67 were the 75C front and 32B rear (like Steven said).  The 68 had a 96A rear sight that was seated farther back toward the breech, (as opposed to the 96B which had a different base and was used on the 69), and a 97A front (later the 101A).

After WWII Winchester offered the 67 with the same sights in the same configuration as the 68.  They gave this new 67 a separate model number, G6780R.  It was cataloged from 1946-1950.  Since this was the exact same gun as the 68, they discontinued production of the 68, although they continued to catalog the 68 through 1947, I suppose until they ran out of existing guns.

Bob's gun appears to be a regular 67 that someone swapped out the sights on.  If it was a factory peep sight model, the rear sight would be seated farther back, just in front of the breech.

I was going to say that the 67A was never offered with this sight configuration, but I suppose it's technically possible that it was.  The G6780R lasted until 1950, and the 67A designation happened in 1949.  So I guess it's possible that there is a 67A with the peep sight configuration out there.  That's one of the things I love about collecting this model - there are tons of variations floating around.

I can't speak to the sling swivels.  Someday I'll sit down and try to educate myself on Winchester swivels.

I'm glad to see that you picked that up. It deserves to b resurrected correctly, and I'm sure you'll do it justice. I do agree that a first model barrel will be hard to acquire, with so many in the short, being shot out. But we never know!

I’ve acquired a 1948 Model 75 Target.  It is basically a barn find.  It must have had a good clean/oil before it was left and most of the metal is ok but some areas worse than others, some pitting, I’ve done some cold blueing in the past so I think it will look great with some work.  The wood looks bad but appears will respond well to refurbishment.  Inside the receiver and the bolt itself looks great.  Drum roll….  The bore looks perfect!  And it shoots great, well, great for me, after a couple of dry patches, it put 5 CCI mini-mags into a nickel at 25 yds, I feel like it will do better, looks like the muzzle crown has a problem as it’s just a flat muzzle face, I see a target crown in its future.  All parts present and correct but missing the magazine.  

Can the forum please suggest some sources for magazines?  Is the magazine common to other Models such as the 52, 57, 69 or others?

As we discussed, Winchester didn't make matched sets, and with only 1000 Eagle Scouts mfg. in 1985, along with the 15,000 Boy Scout rifles mfg. It's not an easy task, matching them up and or finding them, but it was enjoyable and being a former Eagle Scout, I can remember the great times we had and some memories that will last forever in my lifetime!

I will keep an eye out for you as I'm sure others will also!
