I have done the shop owner some favors (took several high-end antique pistols to shows in Las Vegas, Tulsa & Reno last year... sold most at prices he never dreamed). So it's a "quid-pro-quo" thing.... plus, I bring cash...lots of cash. I've done business at the shop for almost 20 years. Still, it's been an amazing estate that he is selling. I don't know who the person was, but they liked good stuff.

My favorite gun shop came thru again. A 3rd Model 1890 in .22lr and a Model 61 in .22 Mag. This 22 mag is actually nicer than the first one I declined to buy. He said there are a few more rifles & pistols to pick up, but didn’t think I would be interested. I told him to just let me know and I’ll head right down. What a great way to start the weekend!

For those of you who have not yet seen it, Pauline Muerrle and Robert Cooper have released a new book on the Winchester 9422 rifle. It is available on Pauline Muerrle's web site. Mine arrived today, and it is an excellent resource. Well organized and with great photography.
That seemed reason enough to post a pic of a few of my 9422 rifles. Enjoy!

Bill, two of my children reside in the Woodlands.

I agree, Bill. Congestion is likely at any hour of the day and possible at any other time. It's complicated by folks in throwaway cars with no regard for anyone's safety or traffic laws, let alone common courtesy. All the chaos of a video game without the reset option. I'm generally part of the problem because everyone else knows where they're going. Surface streets aren't much better. 45 between south edge of the metromess and the northern burbs of Houston is just the opposite, left lane is populated by luxucruisers trying to beat their best times and right lane is regulated by autonomous 18-wheelers. I used to shoot in Katy when it was a wide spot in the road surrounded by rice fields.

Last week I decided to pay a visit to the new Collectors Firearms showroom in North Dallas. For those interested in the Model 52 Sporting, there is a beautiful B model there, very high grade Walnut, subject to these concerns:

1. It looks new, so new it may have been restored. I didn't handle it or examine it closely enough to even hazard a guess.

2. It was scoped with what appeared to be a Leupold 1" scope in rings on a 2-piece base. Professionally done but still -- it's a B and has been drilled and tapped.

3. The tag price is $5,000 USD. This seems high but I don't keep up with the Sporting market.

I know CF gets a premium because it maintains a large bricks & mortar store in a high rent neighborhood. The one in Houston is on Fondren. This Galleria neighborhood is not what it once was, so they may have been able to secure the lot more cheaply than 10 years ago. But they do have an overhead.

Doing great, thanks! Jeremy and I slipped out to the range this morning. I got to see some of his latest plunder and he got to try some of his excellent reloads. Couldn't have asked for a nicer day if a bit overcast. Your ears may have been burning a bit, we are both looking forward to the Cody Show. My itinerary is a bit tight but if I don't dawdle I'll make the BYOB. It's 20+ hours for me and I need my rest stops!

I'd like to shoot one of those Dual Sight guns or at least handle one. Pics are great but a range trip is better!
