I’m pretty sure this is where I need  to post this, I thought this might be a good place since I found zero other postings about my rifle. I have a pre-war factory scoped model 69 (not the model 69A, this was before them)! Winchester only made 769 of them and I’m trying to not only find out more about it, but get it appraised for insurance purposes. Mine has only been shot once and that was by me to ensure it was functioning, safety and accurate, it’s had a total of 10 rounds fired though it. If anyone can help me that would be awesome I’ve literally been running and going no where! It will not allow me to post a photo so if anyone can help here is my email address and I’ll send them to you. FYI it was my Uncle’s rifle he bought it as a kid and never fired it, I inherited it and I am the only to ever fire it. It still has some factory packing grease stuck on the bolt from all those years ago!

After he looked he doesn't have one.  I have another lead though.  I'm in no hurry. 

Absolutely correct on JWA's M-69 Book! His work is priceless, and starting on page 77, in his book, he explains everything about the Pr-War M-69, with telescopic sights!

Welcome to the WACA family!  This is a great forum where you can ask questions and receive accurate information. I would recommend that you start a new thread.  That is insure that JWA will see & respond.  He wrote the definitive book on the Winchester 69... literally. 

The title is:  The Winchester Model 69. Evolution In Design.     It is available here on the WACA webpage...plus you receive a 10% discount as a member.

It has everything you need to know about Dual Sight Winchester 69 rifles... variations, scopes, mounts, etc. He just finished the book on the Winchester 75 and in between work assignments is writing a book about the Winchester 72. 

He is supposed to retire from a very interesting line of work this year... then he will be able to do whatever he wants... (after doing what his wife wants. 😉 )

The Winchester 67 and 68 were basically the same gun with different sights.  The standard sights on a 67 were the 75C front and 32B rear (like Steven said).  The 68 had a 96A rear sight that was seated farther back toward the breech, (as opposed to the 96B which had a different base and was used on the 69), and a 97A front (later the 101A).

After WWII Winchester offered the 67 with the same sights in the same configuration as the 68.  They gave this new 67 a separate model number, G6780R.  It was cataloged from 1946-1950.  Since this was the exact same gun as the 68, they discontinued production of the 68, although they continued to catalog the 68 through 1947, I suppose until they ran out of existing guns.

Bob's gun appears to be a regular 67 that someone swapped out the sights on.  If it was a factory peep sight model, the rear sight would be seated farther back, just in front of the breech.

I was going to say that the 67A was never offered with this sight configuration, but I suppose it's technically possible that it was.  The G6780R lasted until 1950, and the 67A designation happened in 1949.  So I guess it's possible that there is a 67A with the peep sight configuration out there.  That's one of the things I love about collecting this model - there are tons of variations floating around.

I can't speak to the sling swivels.  Someday I'll sit down and try to educate myself on Winchester swivels.

I'm glad to see that you picked that up. It deserves to b resurrected correctly, and I'm sure you'll do it justice. I do agree that a first model barrel will be hard to acquire, with so many in the short, being shot out. But we never know!
