.38-56 is the most underrated Model 1886 caliber, fun to shoot, accurate, and easily formed from .40-65 brass as long as you don’t pursue the next step and turn it into .33 Winchester.

I had observed RIA's boiler plate statement in several of their post M1898 pieces. I have a bit of a different take. I am still dumbfounded that they classify the guns as meeting, "antique status" (and presumably will ship them out directly as such), when they provide the clear evidence that the guns are not antique (the museum letter specifying they were made post 1898 and the WACA data). It's like they are saying the Madis numbers are the final authority - the heck with actual reality.
Let me ask this - how comfortable would others here be (who don't a regular FFL or a C&R), having one of these non-antiques shipped directly to your home?

Blue Ridge Parson said
Several years ago I purchased a Winchester 1894 takedown rifle that was considered an "antique" according to the Madis info, but in reality was made in 1900 (as confirmed by the info on this site.) The seller, who was an FFL, was willing to ship it directly to me, and thought I was "just plain nuts" to insist it be shipped to my local FFL. I would not knowingly give the BATF a reason to come knocking on my door. So if I were the buyer on that RIA auction, I would again insist that the rifle go to my local FFL, in accordance with federal law.

Here we are. This is exactly why I posted this and chose to take a neutral stance on. Some very good points of view ! IMO!
