Very nice Don. I've been a fan of 20 ga. since day 1 of my shooting career. Many pots have been filled with that charge. I never did acquire a model 12. I'm envious.

Thanks Bert. I have about 3 cases of 20 gauge shells and had no 20 gauge shotgun to shoot them in. Problem solved!!

Stopped by my LGS today and couldn't pass up this Model 12 with a factory solid rib in 20 gauge. Manufactured in 1950 and in about 95% condition. Out the door for $500!!

I have an un-opened box of .40-60 WCF ammo with a label misprint. Print date on that label was 3/19 and it reads:

"Adapted for Winchester model '86 and the Single Shot Rifle"

Ray Giles looked at it one year in Denver and said it was the only one he had ever seen or heard of. It only makes it rare, when you sell it!

Picked up several boxes of Winchester .401 ammo... one box had the front, back & side labels mis-printed. The end flaps are normal. Oh boy... a new "area" to collect.... "Winchester Error boxes" 🙂

Maybe so, I wasn't aware they were using this model. I thought maybe they were using something a bit quicker and lighter like the 1873. I suppose some of us need to launch more pellets than others! I think the 50-110 would be close to the 28ga.

I've researched this a bit. Recall my Standard Arms Camp .50 will chamber a .50-110 case. The Camp .50 will not come close to chambering a 28 gauge but a 32 gauge shell will.

I was just comparing the relative sizes, hadn't considered actually firing a shotgun shell in a rifle but that would have simplified things a bit. I recall hearing about the 32 ga but still haven't seen one. I think I'd rather run across a nice Camp 50. Interesting gun.

I understand there were many more exhibition shooters than most of us read about these days, just as there were several wild west shows. I wonder how many cases of ammo this shooter went thru. The asking price is mind boggling here, definitely a case of buying the story.
