I agree with your thoughts that it was refinished at some time in its past. The refinish work was reasonably well done, but is still evident.

Fellows: I have this old Winchester1873 in 38/40.Made in 1903, With a factory latter, It has an excellent bore, no rust or pitting. I am thinking it had been reblued many years ago? All the screws are pristine. None banged up. I did not refinish the stock, but I did remove some lightly carved initials from one side. The wood fits perfectly all around. It has the cleaning rod in the butt plate. It is extremely accurate. I’ll post some photos, I gave $3500 for it. It goes with my 1st generation Colt38/40 tell me what you think of it.

As usual, Rob took lots of pics (if I didn't break his camera!) so you will be able to enjoy them in the next Collector. As usual it was the best show ever, considering all the stops that were pulled out for last year's 50th anniversary. Heather, Vinny and their helpers worked very hard to make it enjoyable for all of us.

I sold 4,800 factory new primed 22 Hornet cases... but that was only half of what I brought to sell. Henry twisted my arm into buying some of his vintage boxed ammo, and Ben way over charged me for a Model 61 22 Mag rifle.
Seeing and chatting with all of the usual faces at the show is always fun... and I met a few of our new WACA members who made the trip for first time.
Jeremy and Lou spent a fair amount of time at that table with Mike and I, and Jeremy got very deep into the spirit of supporting his habits (disease), selling both rifle that he brought to sell, and then buying seven new rifles for his collection!

I got in around 8, I had a nap attack after lunch at the Big Texan and spent an hour in a rest stop a couple hours east of there. Then a stop to re-set a camera and check on a machine that always seems to get fussy this time of year. Still cooler here in Texas than it was in Cody! Around 2500 miles for me, pretty sure that trip is getting longer every year.
