Are any members aware of an MIT electrical engineer named Arthur Lyndsey Nelson (1892-1959), originally from Boston, ever having collaborated with Winchester? It would likely have been in the 1930s or 1940s, and may have been associated with the design of Winchester trigger mechanisms.

Thanks,

I'm still kicking myself for not buying the first one I saw over 40 years ago at a Market Hall gun show in Dallas. This was before beef jerky and blow guns took over...but the blow guns were fun. I didn't realize I was a Winchester collector back then and hadn't learned to avail myself to treasures such as this.

Have fun, Ben! Hope the neighbors don't mind. Much.

Thanks for the kind words, Ben. I'm proud to work with this bunch, Have been helping put on this show for several years, even before they railroaded me into a board position.

I'm gonna go old school on area BBQ, hard to beat Smokehouse in Lindsay but some say Dieter Brothers (a few hundred yards east) is better. Dieter Brothers has a great club sandwich and they are both famous for chicken fried steaks.

I dont know if you remember it or even saw it but i picked one up at Cody a couple years ago that was about 80%.

Defiantly had been used. It now hangs out in my garage and comes out to play regularly.

I do it just enough to keep the neighbors on edge but not predictably

Super fun to shoot, long string allows the grandson to play also.

That style of sight was called a musket rear sight, that does not mean it only went on muskets. It was found on rifles and carbines. What is disturbing to me is the cut in the receiver for the spring, would that not weaken the area that the barrel is threaded in. I have never seen that before and would doubt that's factory work.
I have not seen that style of sight or the receiver being cut in such a manner either. I have seen more than one rear sight that was dovetailed on the actual receiver of early Henry, above the side plates. I'm doubtful its factory work as well.

TR is right on. This sight is for an early 1876/78 Musket and was modified to fit the 1866. You can see it in Stroebel's Old Gunsights & Rifle Scopes book on page 285 and in his Old Gunsights book on page 285 or in Winchester's 1878 Catalog.

I didn't know that. That's a lot stiffer than the 6% Gunbroker charges the seller on sales of $400 or less, plus 1% to the buyer. Over $400, the fee drops to 4% to the seller. Twenty percent when there's NHI is daylight robbery.
