Speaking of that gun, it is not an authentic WW I Trench Gun.  Per the serialization records, it was manufactured in mid September 1920... almost a full year after WW I ended.  Further, the heat shield on it is suspect.  It should be marked as shown in the attached picture.  The "PAT APL FOR" marking is only found on the very early WW I production Trench Guns.  Well before WW I production ended, the heat shields were all marked "PAT.JAN.15 & MAR.19.1918".

Bert your suspicions were verified. The Gunsmith at the FFL verified the heat shield does not match the rifle and believes this is just a standard 97 someone has modified to appear to be a Trench Gun. If I had bought it for anything other than home defense for my daughter I might be inclined to complain but think it is  still acceptable for my purposes. Appreciate your catching this for me though!

I am not afraid to admit, that you guy's sure had me wondering! Sure am glad it was a hoax!

I sold 4,800 factory new primed 22 Hornet cases... but that was only half of what I brought to sell.  Henry twisted my arm into buying some of his vintage boxed ammo, and Ben way over charged me for a Model 61 22 Mag rifle.
Seeing and chatting with all of the usual faces at the show is always fun... and I met a few of our new WACA members who made the trip for first time. 
Jeremy and Lou spent a fair amount of time at that table with Mike and I, and Jeremy got very deep into the spirit of supporting his habits (disease), selling both rifle that he brought to sell, and then buying seven new rifles for his collection!

We enjoyed seeing those 1893’s, Bert! Actually I think you sold about 3000 cases and the other 1800 got sold by whoever was hanging around while you were out surveying! I was able to recruit four new TGCA members and one renewal. I’m thinking at least a couple of the wonderful displays we saw last week will be at the TGCA show October 16-18 in Denton, TX. Glad to have you as a new TGCA member, Bert, hope you can make it to a show someday. I promise it won’t be as hot as last week.

I had the most fun I've had in a long time. Those three days went so fast but met a lot of new people and got to do some serious visiting with others.

Jeremy came thru big time!  It was 105 degrees when the show closed and we had to pack up & haul my stuff out.  It took an hour and forty five minutes... last year it took over 3 hours (not counting the vehicle issue I had).  BlueRidgeParson helped me set up... these guys are the best!  Louis Lutrell helped supervised too!  It was another great event... Vinny, Heather and the entire crew did an amazing job.  The young lady that sang the national anthem each day was a pleasure to listen to as well.  There were some absent due to circumstances beyond their control... I bet they will be there next year if at all possible!  *Steve, Scott, Rick & Georgia this means you! 🙂 )  If you've never gone to the Cody show, just do it!  I've paid for tables for next years show... only 364 days to go!
