I think the Cimarron branded Uberti-made rifles are a cut above other Ubert-made rifles. The owner spends time in Italy educating the workmen in Val Trompa on what a Winchester should look like. And it shows. If I were buying a Uberti, I'd buy the Cimarron import. 
  

I tend to be the same way. Very impulsive when it is something I do not have and interest me. My thoughts are as long as I do not loose any money I am good. 

I have bought several Cimarron 45 colt pistols and they are great shooters. I have heard the same about Cimarron and the owner demanding the best of the best that Uberti makes.

The aesthetics of firearms is a marshy path to tread and opinions vary, to say the least. I have never found the Italians to get the wood color quite right, likely because the blanks come from different species. Winchester, particularly in the deluxe grades, often sells spectacular Walnut. Make sure the one you are shown is the one you will get. Dealers often use stock photos. Some don't. 

I have been immensely pleased with Miroku guns, whether branded Browning or Winchester, and have bought and used many ofthem for almost a half Century.  I couldn't afford the beautiful Charles Daly over/unders that Miroku was building in the late Sixties and Seventies but they were the full equal of the Belgian Browning Superposed.  So much so, that Browning made a secret deal with Miroku to start building the Citori and squeezed Charles Daly out of the picture. 

The notion that Japanese Brownings are somehow inferior to Belgian-made Brownings is Bravo Sierra in the first degree. I own and have owned and used enough of both to have a fact-based opinion. In fit, finish, and function -- in every respect, in fact -- my twenty gauge Superposed pleases me. However, it is not superior to my Miroku-built BSS Sporter twelve gauge side-by-side. Or my 1989 Browning Model 12 or later Model 42. Both Miroku. Nor,  dare I say it, is my Winchester.Model 21 Skeet.Gun.

The price differentials are collector-driven. That's not a small thing, if you want something every collector dreams of owning. When the elephants fight, the grass gets trampled. 

But Miroku is top shelf quality among new arms, as of today. 

Have no idea about values in the future for either. 

Mike and Jerry refuse to discuss which BBQ place  is best when either is armed so I still don't have the straight dope. 

For almost as long as I've lived in North Texas,  the top shelf was occupied by Angelo's in White Settlement,  on the North side of the West Fork of the river, across from downtown Fort Worth. But a couple of years ago I had lunch there and it had fallen on hard times.

Angelo's used to be the place the entire Tarrant County bench and bar went for lunch. If you were in the middle of a case over there,  you had to caution your client not to run his mouth over the brisket, beans and potato salad, which they had a tendency to do after the second big stein.Turn around and you almost elbowed His Honor, sitting with his pretty clerk and the Bailiff. Two tables away sat your opposing counsel, preening before half the jury that was sitting along the wall. And witnesses, very interested in what could be overheard. 

It got to a point I made our entire side bring sack lunches and eat on the riverbank if the weather was nice. In their cars if it wasn't. Angelo''s was worse than the Casbah for spies and sound thieves. 

Took the newly re-scoped [Leupold Compact 2x-7x in an original Redfield Jr. One-piece base] 52C to the club for a session with the usual suspects. Here's Jeremy experiencing its superb Micro Motion trigger. 

Congratulations to the OP for scoring a Lyman 21.  I do think it gives the Model 94 a more serious demeanor.

Bill , I don't know what a "lowly" Commemorative guy looks like, but I have seen some pretty "upper end" Commemorative Guys. I was in a, fella's , mainly commemorative, gun room on Wednesday, I didn't count but I'm guessing about 800-900 guns in there. It's the only time I've seen 3 Mod. '94, 1 of 1000's in one place, 1 first issue and 2 second issues,I am still drooling. I did manage to purchase an Eagle Scout #260, a John Wayne DUKE #51, a CJW John Wayne, and a Calgary Stampede #52. He has several more I'm hoping to purchase in the near future. Is Your vault/museum open to a fellow "lowly" Commemorative guy for viewing.
  

Henry I would have loved to been in that vault! I have them all except the NWT Donation Model. I had 2 of the 1 of 1000’s 1st issue but just sold one to a buddy in Montana. I do have 2 Constitutions as I have Michigan and Missouri. I also have a unique 1 of 10 Giovanelli made that he used the 0000 receivers on. He called it the One of Thousand. I’m told they stopped paying him and he still had the receivers so he made them and sold them himself! My musuem will be open to the public but I’m still a ways away curating items as it will house vintage Winchester advertising, Winchester store items and of course all the Commemoratives. In addition, I acquired the rights to both of Trolards books from his daughter and intend to update them and reprint them at some point as well. All that while still working FT spreads a fella thin sometimes! Oh, and the massive Commemorative survey I’ve launched. I appreciate the ones you gave me above. Don’t know what you paid for your Duke but one without the case sold for $7200 yesterday at the LS&B auction!

At some point -- I'm thinking it was when the swingout cylinder 1909 Colt revolver was developed -- the rim diameter was increased so a star extractor could extract and eject cases. 

A 45 lever action makes a very fine Urban Assault Rifle. The gaping hole in the business end of the barrel has a certain  "I am the Alpha and the Omega" fascination for those staring into it. Given the longer barrel, thev generous black powder case, and progressive powders, a 250 grain XTP or gas checked cast lead bullet can be accelerated to impressive velocities while blast and recoil remain very controllable. Browning sells this caliber in both 1873 and 1892 rifles. The toggle link 1873 should be loaded to not more than pressures suitable for the Colt Single Action Army. 

At up to a hundred yards, it makes a fine deer and hog gun. And it is considerably easier to handload, for the ham handed, than the 44 Wiinchester.
