This lack of discovery has been ongoing for some time now, as you and I have discussed this, and like Bert said, the "ball cartridge", which to many of us is interpreted as the standard bullet round, to many of us and even yourself, but the Standard Arms, "Camp 50", as it's known, is a Smooth Bore, shotgun type Rifle! As you're well aware of! 

To this date, no known marked cartridges, or boxes of known or marked ammunition have been found! Again as you're well aware of! Below is a post from the IAA Forum where information has been sought for decades on this amazing firearm.

At this point in time after several well known world renowned cartridge collectors, and arms collectors, have failed to find or come up with a stamped or marked cartridge, or even a box that is dedicated to the "Camp 50", is it possible those three large corporations, Winchester Remington-UM C and Peters, of well known ammunition suppliers, simply decided that the ammunition produced and manufactured at the time, as so was stated to be used interchangeably and without designation of this particular firearm, that the Standard Arms Company produced in a relatively small amount compared to the larger number of manufactured arms of the day? 

I do somehow remember a DuPont, of the well known family of powder back in the day having interest in this. As a matter of fact, one is named so in the first post in the IAA thread I posted above. I'm thinking maybe it was assumed a previous unmarked cartridge, from these three major manufactures, were to be used as a versatile firearm, and never having ammunition specifically marked or designated to these firearms.

I am 41. I find myself the youngest, by far, of my collecting friends. 

Here in Australia, owning firearms is not a constitutional right. It is a conditional privilege.

New South Wales has just started their buyback for a limit of 4 shooting guns per person. Collectors licence holders are exempt at this stage. 

The rest of the states here (I am in Victoria) are watching the situation closely.

All I'll add to the political element of this thread is that we are seeing a swing that shouldn't have surprised most of us, we've seen it before. It will swing the other way. What concerns me is the demographics we see in our group and shooters as a whole. Some of us will see the day when the majority has never fired a gun and has no interest in doing so. I'm a bit cynical lately, just learned that development is a very real and immediate threat to the private range that was a big part of my retirement plans. We're becoming obsolete and antique, just like the guns we love. Shoot 'em if you got 'em!

When I read this originally, I was thinking you gmeant the forum as a lot of members collect and don’t shoot.  But at least if the majority of members collect and do not shoot, that’s still okay as the interest is still there.  And, many of our members just shoot, and don’t collect at all.

Don't kid yourself.  The folks who would come after guns don't differentiate 'old vs new' or 'revolver vs semi auto'. In the first place, they simply want to get rid of guns, so they don't really care to make those distinctions. And secondly, I genuinely believe that for the most part, they're too ignorant of gun knowledge to understand the difference, and too lazy to try and become informed.

That is correct.  They don’t know the difference, if I had to guess, most legislators independent of their party wouldn’t know the difference between a rifle or shotgun, wouldn’t know centrefire vs rimfire ammunition, and the difference between a pistol and a revolver.

Mike, I genuinely believe that the USA passed the point many years ago where 'the majority has never fired a gun, and has no interest in doing so'.

I never thought I'd see the day where that may be true in places like Nevada (where I live) or especially in Texas. But when I look at the Nevada maps for election results, the greatest majority of folks now live in two urban centers (Las Vegas and Reno) and they vote as though they'd be happy to never have to deal with firearms.

As for Texas, I really hope I'm wrong (I'm a native Texan and proud). But I never thought someone with the values of Greg Abbot could lose an election.

Thanks! It was pretty funny actually. It was Sunday the last day of the Cody show, and I'd been out all morning at the museum. When I finally showed up to the show about lunch, I walked in the door the exact time they were calling my name over the venue speakers. I threw my hands up and was like "What did I do?" and someone yelled "You won a gun!" Couldn't have timed it more perfectly.
...also, extra funny since the day before I told that person I never win any raffles and wondered if Heather had even put my tickets in the pot. Clearly she had! (I never doubted you, Heather) 😉
  

The rest of the story IMHO is the prize gun is actually a good shooter and fun to boot! And George, you may have noticed we're enjoying some of Jeremy's shotguns this month on the WACA calendar.

When a certain element tries to erase History and facts and not teach the correct history in schools and to our young children, we have a brainwashed society, and no better way to change the up coming vote of the people.

We see it every where, when our high priced colleges teach what they want, and not the factual history! Sad!

My late father in Law used to say that you have to stand up for what you believe in, right or wrong in the eyes of others! As a WW ll veteran, Family man, hunter, shooter and a smith of firearms, I didn't understand exactly what he meant, until I took the time as I've gotten older and thought about it more! We always got along well and hunted together a lot and shared many a story, and fixed a lot of thing together growing pretty close, as My dad, another great guy, who didn't want to go hunting, but came to America at the age of 18 years old from the Fascist Country of Italy, never went back! Dad's stories we're interesting in them selves, and became a proud American Citizen, and paid his taxes like many other honest hard working people!

Henry I can understand you're situation and can appreciate you're stance as I have several friends from up you're way and they feel the same way!

Freedom isn't Free, and we need to hang tough!!! IMHO!
