I stand corrected.  Thank you!

I like it!  I was sorely tempted today, except it went for more than I was willing to bid, plus being post 1898, you have to deal with the FFL

… It's an appealing piece.  I love the Lyman sight.  And, the ring may indeed be useless but it looks cool to me.  Also it sounds like you and this carbine are well matched given your range test.  A keeper for sure.

I like the caliber, and have three guns chambered for it - two carbines and a rifle. As I mentioned earlier, I've used the rifle to shoot pigs in Texas, but the 25-35 does not have the oomph to reliably knock down the…

Where were those two bidders when I sold my 1886 in 40-82 a few years back?  The one I sold had a factory set trigger and a really nice bore, and went for A LOT LESS than the rifle that just sold

…is not much... The M70 survey to date has recorded (14) rifles in 35 Whelen (out of >20,000 entries).  Both Standard rifles (8) and Carbines (6).  The earliest of these is S/N 977, a standard rifle only noted to have been sold at auction in September 1998.

…would be extremely rare too! . I’ve heard of a man who lived in Montana who had two in his connection, one in a Standard Rifle and the other was a carbine pre-64 model 70. I’ll see if I can find his name! The mans name was Jerry Marsh lived around Kalispell Montana.

Serial number is 1084768 . Thanks

I had your Model 94 Carbine previously documented in my research survey.  It is a 25-35 WCF "transitional" Carbine that was manufactured in June 1932.  It has a Proof Steel

Based on what I can see of your Model 1886 rifle in the pictures you posted, it is a "brown" gun.  On the plus side, it is a 38-70 WCF.  It would help to see better pictures that show the

…Steve,

Your post is perfectly fine.

The date of manufacture for your Model 94 Carbine was March 1939, and the pictures you provided in the URL show that the gun is in excellent (original) condition with no aftermarket alterations or…

…modifications.

In regard to the value, I have seen similar pre-WW II Model 94 Carbines sell for $2,000 - $2,500 in the same condition.

I will bash dealers just because prices are inflated, as this thread…
