Within the world of Winchester collectibles, there are many collecting paths to choose from. Some collectors begin with an interest in firearms, then discover cartridge boxes or shot shell boxes or related advertising and are soon collecting in those areas. Or they start with carpentry tools and then pursue a collection of all the tools Winchester made, like household appliances, cutlery, pocketknives, flashlights, sports equipment, fishing tackle, garden and farm tools, paints or Winchester Store products.
That's part of the excitement of Winchester collecting. There are so many avenues and side streets to go down and you can't predict where they will lead. Today's challenge of finding these gems, especially in excellent condition, is motivating collectors across the country and the world. And contrary to the current situation in some other collecting fields, we are still digging Winchester collectibles out of attics and basements; certainly not with the frequency of 10 or 15 years ago, but often enough to keep the "fever for the hunt" alive.
With their reputation in firearms and ammunition leading the way, Winchester also hammered home the concept to thousands of their authorized retailers that "One Winchester Item Sells Another." That marketing strategy put millions of Winchester products into circulation in the 1920s.
