Hey guys would a barrel replacement on an 1894 decrease it’s value considerably? This rifle is from 1898, and I see an oval P stamped on the barrel. The barrel also says Model 94 30wcf. The rifle is $500

Yes, a mail order “(P)” marked barrel does significantly reduce the value.

Here are a few pics of the barrel. Also did the butt stock ever come with this shotgun style metal plate

Definitely a replacement barrel. If you pull the magazine tube and forend stock off, you will find a 2-digit year number stamped on the bottom for the barrel in the concave groove near the receiver frame, which will tell you what year the barrel was made, and the earliest possible year that the rifle was rebarreled.

Yes, Winchester (on special order) did equip the Model 1894 with the style of butt plate on your rifle.

If the rest of the rifle is in as good condition as what’s shown in the few photos it seems well worth $500 regardless of the barrel swap.

Well, you have your answer concerning the “when” question.
