Saw a 94 carbine in the 1219xxx range, typical prewar carbine with a mod 55 style buttplate.  What is unusual is that it has a saddle ring & sling eyes.  No wear on the action from the ring that you often see but the action is probably better than 90% with some wear on the bottom and a few scratches.  If I am not mistaken the gun was made in 1940, could this be correct for a SRC or am I looking at a humped up gun

Ken,

Yes, it is a 1940 production Carbine. While it is possible that it was special ordered with the saddle ring, I have my doubts that it is original on said gun. Winchester was no longer using sling eyes by the year 1940. Instead, they were using the inletted sling base with QD slings. I would like to know what the complete serial number is for my research survey.
