I have owned a few 1873 Winchester in 22 long and all but one had really bad bores. I tried them, but they wouldn’t shoot. When I got this 1873, I had to look it over real hard to make sure it wasn’t relined, the bore was so good. Finding 22 long ammunition wasn’t easy either, but I now have a few thousand rounds, more than I willo ever need.
I take it out shooting gophers and it is a real thrill to shoot this gun and how accurate it really is…

Congrats on a nice rifle and finding ammo for it! I remember shooting 22 long ammo better than 40 yrs ago when it was a few cents cheaper than long rifle. I’ll bet it’s an adventure finding that stuff today.

CCI makes occasional runs of 22 Long… watch for it, and then buy a lifetime supply.

Great idea, I am looking for a new batch also and would appreciate it if someone posts a heads-up the next time they see it in bulk.
Thanks!
