Finally got a set of sights installed that let my 75 hit where it’s looking (thanks, JWA) and did a bit of ammo testing today. One surprise was some old PMC Zapper, shot almost as well as Eley Club. Both shot just under 3/4″ @ 50 yds so nothing to write home about. Bulk Winchester was good enough to get it sighted in and some old WW Wildcat was only a little better. Been hearing good stuff about Norma match ammo, decided at just over half the price of Club I should give it a try. Bought a bulk pack of Remington to feed the 63. May quit shooting it but it’s too much fun to let it be a safe queen.

No flies today.Wink

Norma Match ammo seems to be what this rifle likes. Had a little fun with an Anschutz fanboy and his $2000 scope. He looked at my target and told me to aim at the letters around the edge. I told him I couldn’t see the letters, the 75 doesn’t have a scope. Poor guy looked at my rifle and was at a loss for words.

I think this M75 is good for under .5″ @ 50 yards, loose nut behind the butt may need a bit of group tightener. Our club hosts a poker chip match for .22’s and the winning rifle is generally a custom 10-22 clone with a $2000 scope and a $600 rest. Our fanboy is a pretty serious contender.

I think a lesson about arrows and Indians is in order, lol. In all honesty, my Anschutz fanboy was very helpful, he gave me some ammo that I’ve been wanting to try and saved me a bit of money. The Wolf and SK ammo were not what this rifle was looking for.

.5 inch at 50yd without a scope is nothing to sneeze at !
What size aperture do you have on your receiver sight? Does it only show the 10 ring of the NRA target, with a slight white line around it? If not it is to big. Don’t get discouraged trying to shoot with scoped opponents . Nothing is better than shooting to a rifle’s accuracy.

I don’t have an NRA target on hand but I’m using the smallest Lyman aperture on front and rear, thinking about trying a post.

I have several scoped rifles but I enjoy shooting peeps, there’s no reason this rifle can’t hold it’s own against most of the scoped rifles out there, other than the aforementioned loose nut.

Many folks find CCI SV the very best of non-match ammo.  In the match-chambers of my 52s, noticeably greater force is required to chamber the round than with other makes, leading me to suspect that the bullet is very slightly oversize, which might contribute to enhanced accuracy.

Haven’t seen that ammo, does it say “SV” or is that an abbreviation? Bought two more bricks of the Norma while it was on sale.

What kind of pistol did you shoot that 10 yard group with? Just kidding, but I hope that’s 50 yards at least.

You really need a M52. Not bragging but my M52’s usually shoot better than that at 100 yards. At 50 they all go into the same hole. Scoped of course.

No really, that is real good shooting. All my accuracy shooting is done with Red Box Eley. Have found nothing better. Keep up the good work. Big Larry

Thanks, it was 50 yds. I’m pretty sure you could get a better group than what I posted, I’m not much on precision shooting but hoping this rifle will help me with that. Still studying up on 52’s. Haven’t seen one I like yet but not really looking at the moment.

Really not bad for iron sights and standard grade ammo. Still would encourage you to give CCI SV a try.

Yes, good ammo is a must. M75’s have match chambers and of course vary widely as to accuracy with different lots of ammo. I carry about 20 different types to the range with me, but have found none superior to Red Box in my M52’s and 40X’s. Red box may be what the Dr. ordered for your M75. Try a box. Expensive, but worth it.   Big Larry

He should…at least to see what it’s capable of; until the mental image of a quarter flying down the range with each trigger pull becomes too painful!

But for about the last 40 yrs (until I became too lame to hunt), Eley Red Box was the ONLY ammo I ever used for squirrel & woodchuck hunting; for a greater guarantee of clean kills, I considered nothing was too good.  And not extravagant at all, since one box lasted an entire season.

Up until now, I had all the Red Box I needed for free. A friend was on the US Army shooting team. I still have a couple of bricks and some loose boxes, but I really do not shoot 100 yards any longer. Too busy shooting my Boys Rifles with cheap ammo and Longs and Shorts. Have been considering selling off my M52’s when the market gets better.    Big Larry

Scored some CCI SV yesterday, never made it past the trap field at the club today. I’ll keep an eye out for a 52 but need to do a bit more research before I get too serious about that acquisition. Quite honestly I’m not sure my shooting will ever justify a 52 but I’d like to have one someday.
