Hi… can anyone tell me the time frame ( serial#) when they changed the hand grip plate from the black stamped plate to the red”W”. Did they use them on the rifle AND the carbine?

Thanks in advance

Hi

I don’t know if this helps or not I have a 88 in 243, rifle serial number 207552A Madis said YMG 1967 with a red “W” in pistol grip cap and a 100 in 308, rifle serial number 193457 Madis said YMG 1967 also with a red “W” on the grip cap. My Dad has a 88 in 308 With the black cap and I believe  Madis said it was from 1970’s when I looked up serial numbers.

Hope this info helps, I know topic was about 100’s but 88’s where the same stock design and my 100 and 88 have the same Red “W” in the cap of the grip.

I have a carbine stock with the black scroll pistol grip cap. Not sure if it’s from a M88 or M100, do both models use the same stock/inlet?
